North Haven Rotary Club hosts 12th Annual Day of Wine and Roses:
NORTH HAVEN – Imagine a beautiful autumn afternoon enjoying fresh air, making new friends, admiring exotic flowers and sipping delicious wine.
No, it’s not too good to be true. It’s the 12th Annual Day of Wine and Roses. Presented by the North Haven Rotary Club, it is hosted annually by Forget Me Not flower shop, 39 State St. This year’s event is Sunday, Sept. 29, 1 to 5 p.m.
“We do it to raise money for the Rotary and the various charities that help make the lives of our citizens a little bit better,” said Luigi Nuzzolillo, owner of Forget Me Not.
Nuzzolillo is particularly pleased that this year’s event will feature even more area restaurants and gourmet shops than in prior years and anywhere from 50 to 80 different wines from local wine makers. The $35 ticket price entitles an attendee to sample to their heart’s content.
“It’s an event that doesn’t put much financial strain on the attendee,” Nuzzolillo said. “It’s a good value with plenty of food, lots of wine and entertainment.”
Last year’s event brought about 300 people and Nuzzolillo believes this year will bring even more.
“The way things have been going we are going to exceed the number handsomely,” he said.
In addition to the food and wine, the event also features exotic flower arrangements, a silent auction, live music and cooking demonstrations.
Tickets are available at the flower shop or by calling 203-239-1900.
